Fusion 360 split lines in renders

Hi,

I'm currently trying to learn fusion 360, it's quite straight forward to use but I'm having some difficulty with renders.

I have a box with a lid that I'm trying to render, even though they are separate parts they render without a split line almost as if it is one solid body.

Is there a way to have both lid and box the same material and colour while having the split line show in a render?

Thanks for your help.box and lid test.png

The result you are getting is expected. Even though you have two separate parts, with no separation and no features along the split line, the renderer has no way of showing the split line.

The easiest way to do this is to either separate the parts ever so slightly (in real life there will always be some minute separation distance anyway), or perhaps add a small chamfer to the mating edges. No matter what you do, you need to give the renderer something to render along this split line if you want it to show.
