Hello!

I am using Inventor many years, however few months ago I wanted to try Fusion 360. Then I started to writing some tutorials for Fusion 360, I would like to share with You.

http://www.kiss3d.net/?p=1348&lang=en - my last article about usefull and useless costraints. Comments and opinions are welcome. 😉

Regards!

Just a suggestion to help publicize your website, edit your profile and list your website.  With this done, if someone clicks on your profile, they will have a direct link to your website and tutorials.  Take a look at the attached screen capture to see where to do this.

I have one comment about the web post mentioned in your forum post and that is: I believe you should refrain from interjecting your opinion on the commands and processes used in Fusion 360.  Present the facts, show the processes and methods but let the user decide what in Fusion 360 is best for them.  For new users, opinions for experienced users, will often deter them from using Fusion 360 in a way that is best for them, even if they seem trivial or useless to you.  Thanks for offering your expertise to others, every bit helps.

Have to agree with @jhackney1972  what you consider useful\useless is just your opinion. Only real comment is symmetry should be used very carefully as it is quite a resource hog. Use as few symmetry constraints as possible and be very careful with mirror as you can create a lot of constraints in one mirror and Fusion will become very slow and bogged down.

Thank You for your feedback, I've already put web in my profile.

I appreciate Your opinion, however I would not like to duplicate Fusion 360 manual or something like that. My intention is to share my way of working. In my opinion it is good to tell what I think about what I am doing - it causes discussions and discussions are great opportunity to exchange experience. I am really open minded, and of course - maybe I am wrong at something and I will learn something new.

From the other hand of view - Maybe I should highlighted a little bit more, that what I wrote at my tutorial is not general knowledge, but my opinion and no one should give up looking for own way.

Good point about that mirror. Many thanks!

well, for the sake of discussion,  I would say I use the equal constraint a lot.  I find it it be a real time saver, and can help with keeping clutter down.  wouldn't have used it in the example you provided, but..

Oh boy, I hope my students don't see this...

...I instruct them to use = (equal constraint) rather than duplicating dimensions all the time.

I'm in big trouble.  😮

Yes, if my Design Intent is not for symmetry.

But look around you in the real world.

Look at nature.

There is a tremendous amount of symmetry in nature (and in the man-made world).

I encourage the use of logical symmetry to simplify the design process (and later on pays dividends in simplifying the setting up mechanism motion).

I guess I must recommend use of Symmetry (especially about the origin) (and not necessarily referring to the Symmetry Constraint) here in this forum at least a half dozen times a week.

You assume collinear lines will have coincident end points.  This is not always true.

You told me the same thing on the in the Fusion 360 Facebook group. English is not you first language ( it isn't mine either, I've just lived here in the USA for almost 20 years) and perhaps you are not aware of this but that sentence is very dismissive and NOT appreciative!

Constraints are simply tools. Some of them can be used to similar effect. That does not mean others are useless.

I'm not your student, but I'm using it all the time. IMHO equal constrain documents the intend of equal length much better than a duplicated dimension.
