Fusion 360 HOW TO Coil or helix with Stripes

Hey folks I have ben struggling with how to achieve a coil that is striped not using textures but modeled. I have tried creating a coil, then another coil that was cut short > repeat on path... no worky. 

I would like a coil that is striped. I have tried many things with no success. I would LOVE any help

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Are you familiar with Split Face and Appearances (Face)?

Thank you for the reply this is exactly what I am looking for! I actually don't have a Fusion file the photo I attached was just an image to articulate my challenge. Would you mind posting your file? I would love to see how you did it.

Questions like this come up often enough that I am creating a video of the process - but I always like to see that the user has made at least a modest attempt before I show the solution.

I appreciate that I have attached my feeble attempt at this, though its not parametric / easily adjustable because i used the split body, circular pattern, and thus end up with a destructive method of creation if you will.
