Hello,
Sorry, I just have to chime in here - I highly disagree with this approach.
I think we know that the future of CAD will be in VR / AR devices. What we don't need is simply another viewer - I'm sure most companies will have some solution or another that will let them view their models in the HoloLens. It's fairly trivial to convert the file to another type and display it.
I love fusion 360 and it really is my CAD program of choice right now. That being said, I'll probably end up going with whichever company (of the big 3 - CATIA, NX, Solidworks) offers an INTEGRATED CAD solution. The potential of the HoloLens in a real development environment is massive. The largest barrier at this point is a native modeling solution. As CATIA/Solidworks was on the original list of partners and we haven't heard anything from them, I'd suspect they're way out front at this point.
Not to say that this couldn't be accomplished in Fusion 360 with an excellent API connection - I just don't see the architecture working out in any kind of streamlined way. Having had some experience with a few CAD APIs, I think this would produce a limited solution at best.
Are there any plans for Fusion 360 to ensure an integrated CAD solution - or is it just another viewer at this point?
Thanks,
Bryan
