Fusion 360 Gallery - what do you think?

Hey everyone - I'm looking to get your thoughts on our Fusion 360 Gallery.  Hoping to keep the conversation constructive, but open to any and all feedback about it!

  • Have you spent any time looking at others designs?  If so, what were your general impressions and what drew you there in the first place?
  • Have you ever shared anything on the Gallery?  If so, how was the experience and do you use it often?
  • If you've never been to the Gallery, why not?  What would help get you there?

Thanks for your time!
~Brian

I spend time viewing peoples work, there are some fantastic models/ideas and one of the things that make it special is people from all over the world are showing their skills.

Uploaded a couple of models up and plan to upload others, the experience was pain free and do not use it that often.

How about a category system for easier browsing, companies could browse categories similar to their own products and headhunt candidates?

--- Opinion Alert ---

I think 95% if not more of things in the Gallery are modeled, and rendered (obviously 😉 but never made.

This should be one of the key designators whether a project is just a model, or a rendering - not that there's anything wrong with it - or if it's ever really  been made into a physical, functioning object.

That's one of the main reasons I don't very often go through the Gallery. One has to sift through an enormous amount of stuff to get to the rare project that's been made.

A main part of the Keynote @ AU 2016 was about the Future of making things. It was not about the Future of modeling, or rendering things 😉

Smiley Happy good point, Peter!  It's always tough because not everyone wants/can share something that is made as part of their day job, so often these types of galleries end up with things that are never made or easily producible (therefore not reusable).  Curious, have you ever put anything up there?  If not, would you, or if no, why not?

I personally don't mind images with well designed / modeled projects - they show what the software cab achieve.

Maybe in addition to the gallery have a real world project showcase gallery.

That could serve both needs.

I wasn't aware of the gallery until saw your post, so I've obviously never contributed to it.

First off, I'm amazed at the quality of some of the renders, but there is no obvious order. I would like to see the gallery divided into subcategories such as: transport, mechanical, tools, etc., with an indication as to whether the model was actually used to make something, or just used to an create illustration.

Overall, its a very good way of showing the versatility of Fusion, but, because of its size, is very difficult to find anything specific.

Thank you for creating it.

Hi,

I like the gallery very much and the quality of some of the works. Sometimes I use it for inspiration. I shared my first project in Fusion 360 ( https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion360/projects/25467/ldu---linear-drive-unit?searched= )and I usually used the gallery to show my design to my friends on my mobile.

But what I would like to change is that it would be nice if somehow my autodesk student expert portfolio could import my projects from fusion 360 gallery if I want to, because it is really time consuming and not productive to upload one project twice, especially if both of this sites( gallery portfolio) are part of autodesk

Cheers,

Kacper
