Fusion 360 - Cookie Cutter Help

Hello,

I recently created a model in Fusion that looks like a cookie cutter, but when I print it, there is no "hole" in the middle and it prints completely solid. I don't know if it's a problem in fusion or my slicer (I've used Creality and Cura). Any guidance is appreciated.

The wall thickness here is probably confusing your slicer.  this is pretty minimal.  if you go this thin then you have to switch to "vase" type methodologies where your slicer knows it's just suppose to print in one pass.

I think this is to thin.  it should be at leas 2mm for most 3d printing technologies, and I would make it more just because of strength issues.

0.89mm should be easily printable with a Creality printer, in all likelihood it has a 0.4mm nozzle so thats two passes. Most likely your .STL file is not getting exported correctly. Are you *absolutely* sure you are selecting the correct single Body before right clicking to Save as STL?

Also, if you are not already, I suggest unchecking "Send to 3D Print Utility", to let the .STL file save to disk. Then open/view the STL file directly through some other viewer, not through Cura. If you don't see the hole there, means there is problem while exporting. If you do, means something is wrong in Cura settings.

If you are not able to view the .STL file directly, post it here so we can see.

oh jeez, just took a closer look at the bodies.  the lower half is just a surface body-

with some weirdness-

only the top edge is actually a solid-

your slicer is trying to fill in the gap between the open back sides of your surface.  you need to repair this so it is a single SOLID body before export.

Hi @Anonymous. I've made several cookie cutter models in Fusion, and the last model @laughingcreek attached will work very well.

Two shells should give you a fair dough cut. I usually print them with just one shell (0.4 mm thick). Although it will be more fragile, it provides a cleaner cut, which is my preference.
