Fusion 360 & 4k Monitors- If you use a 4K monitor please provide feedback!

I'm looking at getting a new workstation and have the option to upgrade to a 4K screen (3840x2160).  I have read several posts from 6-12 months from people who had issues running fusion in 4K.  Does anyone here run a 4k monitor and if so what has your experience?  Has the Fusion 360 team addressed 4K screens at all in their development process?

Its certainly possible that this is a non issue and has already been resolved, especially since I can't find much recent info on it.

Thanks for your feedback!

I have the same problem... running a Windows 10 Lenovo laptop with UHD monitor and the scaling is all messed up with most design software.  SO FRUSTRATING.  I just took a class in Fusion 360 and now I can barely use the software at home because of this issue.  How is that extra mile of debugging going Autodesk?

I connected to a non 4K monitor and placed that as the primary with my 4K laptop as the secondary. The max resolution on the monitor was 2k 1980x 1080 (don't recall the exact) then changed my 4K laptop to same and then it fixed the resolution problem. I can even use the monitor as 4K if I want but the font is sorta small but it is readable.

Good luck.

Check the solution I posted in this thread. It worked perfectly on my Lenovo. It should for you too. It also worked perfectly on my mates Surface Pro 4.

I tried the knowledge base suggestion and it worked to an extent, however, the icons and text become so small that it is unusable like this. So I have gone back to the original settings which are much more usable but have to put up with fuzzy text and graphics. This is on a Lenovo Yoga 900.

There should be a fix for this - from what I can understand on microsoft pages, it is possible for developers to work with High Res screens properly to resolve these issues.

Cheers

I have this issue with both fusion 360 and Netfabb. Both appear at 100% scaling regardless of the windows settings this makes them incredibly small.

There is a feature in Blender called 'Virtual Pixel Mode' where you can change it to double (would be better to have % increments but for now doubles far better then nothing). This sorts out the very same issue with the blender software. You can also zoom in and out on each settings window for even further customization.

Perhaps a way forward for autodesk applications rather then relying on windows settings which could be affected each windows update.

Been a while it seems since the post stating an update was in the works....

My hp Spectra 360 has a 4k monitor and some of the mouse icons are quite small when I select a tool.  For example, if I select the dimension tool the pointer gets really small and you have to look very closely to see which tool is selected.  If I click stop sketch the pointer returns to normal size.  When I visited the "solved" like and tried to follow the steps, there was no "compatibility" tab for me to select.

This does seem to make a change but on my new 4K MSI labtop its barley usable as all the icons are tiny, doesn't seem to  change when move the scale around.

any other updates from AutoDesk would be appreciated!

Hello.  I am a Fusion 360 user and am thinking of upgrading to a 4K monitor for Christmas.  Have the issues with Fusion and 4K monitors been solved without needing workarounds?  I am looking to purchase a 32" Samsung 4K.  Also, I currently have a 32" Samsung that is WQHD (basically 2k).  I would like to use the two monitors in a dual setup.  One person in this post said there will be an issue with that as it relates to Windows scaling.  Is having two different resolution monitors still an issue also?

So to recap.  Can the AutoDesk Fusion 360 team please tell me / us if using a 4K monitor as my main display alongside a WQHD monitor as a secondary screen will work well?  I will need to have normal size icons readable by 50 year old eyes on the 4K screen and would expect everything to be sharper than what is displayed on the WQHD monitor, otherwise I would be better off getting a second WQHD instead of the 4K.  I would appreciate any thoughts the other forum users have, but please, AutoDesk, let us know if Fusion 360 is now considered fully 4K ready...

Thanks much!

Paul

If you will use Windows display scaling please use this instructions or you'll get blurry image - bad for eyes...

Poor display performance using Fusion 360 on a high resolution monitor

I just fixed the scaling on my 27" 4K monitor - Icons are OK but all texts are really small

So 27" is not enough for 4K - 32" should be OK for normal eyes.. but 37-43" would be better.

I am using Lenovo P50 with 15.6" 4K display. So, there are two options: a) tell Windows not to scale the application as knowledge base article suggests and then I get very small icons and menu texts, strike main menu items, etc OR b) let windows scale the F360 and then have blurred UI OR c) change resolution of the monitor to FullHD and then have everything blurred OR d) move to Mac. In general neither of that is acceptable. Shame on Autodesk! MSDOS times are in past if you haven't yet noticed, it's 21st century already with hi res monitors even in laptops.

I can't believe this isn't fixed in 2019!

I'm 3d printing enthusiast. Purchased a 3d printer recently. So I want to develop some models in Fusion for my hobby projects. This is the only software i have scaling issues (since 2015 when i purchased 4K monitor). And i use lot (LOT) of software: various IDEs, photoshop, DAWs, few web browsers, various messengers, players etc. All of them are perfectly clear and well sized on my 4K monitor.

As for Fusion:

I set up scaling type in my Windows 10 compatibility settings. The image is clear now, but i have tons of issues in the app:
- some text size is ok, but some is extremely tiny

- the lines width 2 times thinner than it should be. including the grid lines

- ui helpers are 2 times smaller too. like constraints icons, gizmos etc. so it's very difficult to catch them with a mouse.

- some text doesn't fit into its area

- some buttons are also very small. i have to aim precisely like a sniper to hit them.

i'm using 175% system scaling

i have strong feeling that QA team didn't test the product on hi-res monitors at all 😞

I don't think the problem is testing, I think the problem is testing with small 4K monitors. I use a 43" IPS panel and don't actually need to use Windows scaling. Windows scaling is okay but I think part of the blame rests squarely on Windows itself. But if Autodesk would add true font handling in the UI, maybe even borrow some code from the design module for text, that would solve the problem for people using 32" or smaller 4K monitors.

This is written in Python and QT, isn't it? Does Python/QT have built in routines for properly scaling the UI elements?

Win7x64 user here trying to use Fusion 360 on a 32" UHD monitor, finding it a bit of a joke that there is no built-in scaling and how only some elements are scaled using wndows scaling. Even some simple integer scaling would go a long way, like what Blender uses.

Windows 10 (all updates) and Laptop with external 28" 4K display.

By default Fusion is blurry with very big icons and text (I think no scaling at all, not using 4K resolution)

I can change this to use 4K (as per pic below) but then text in the toolbars is too big, does not fit so you cannot read it. Some text is tiny e.g. notification bar etc

AutoCAD released instructions how to fix this but it does not work... -https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Per...

I'm on a 2020 xps 13 with the 4k screen. The solution they gave in this link you gave does make the icons normal sized but also makes your display output/resolution look like a potato. Very frustrating having such a good screen only to have crappy image quality!
