Frustrating using this tool, aligning components

Have been rying to do a simple bearing block to hole alignment (making a cylinderical joint).  When I select the two surfaces of the cylinder it moves them but rotates the bearing block. The bearing block has a square back but when it aligns it , it rotates the square back by 45 degrees.

I've attched the file with the aluminum square tube with the hole and the bearing block. Want the bearing block inside the AL tube so you can attach it to the tube with screws going through the side wall into the threaded holes in the bearing block.

I also don't know how to put holes in the side wall to align with the holes in the bearing block.

thanks...

1. You drew the Al Tube with direct modeling tools. Stay away from direct modeling until you have a little more experience.

2. It looks like you want to work with externa components. Stay away from exteral components until you have a little more experience.

3. In the Bearing Block file you do work with components, but then you likely forgot to ground the main component before you assembled the parts, which might be the reason they are not centered around the origin.

It avoids a lot of frustrations when you watch through the first 50 minutes of tutorials.

Now to the files:

1. When you have the AL Tube file open, turn on the timeline.

2. Make a Component out of the body and immediately ground it.

3. Insert the Bearing block into the AL block file. It does not matter where, just put it somewhere.

4. Break the link to the Bearing block before saving the AL block assembly. Now save the asembly for good measure.

5. Watch this screencast. To constrain the joint origin for assembly to a specific surface press and hold the CMD/CTRL key.
