Form modeling : smoothing areas, joining 2 parts

Hello,

I have a model for a table that I quite urgently need to present. My 3d model is still very flawed but the smoothing function does not work as i want it.

The 2 legs that sweep and twist underneath should look the same from a side view (looking at the twist) but from a front view I want the 2 sweeps to come together and then separate again.

I attached how i want it with some veneer strips to give an idea. And also the flawed model where the connection is not yet made.

Since i need to model it urgently, all help is very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I might create a screencast outlining some differences between Fusion and Blender that make a difference in this project.

The Tools in Fusion are very accessible and intuitive to use for beginners, but the modality of the interface can make editing very tedious.
For example, if you want to  move/scale geometry, you'll have to invoke the Edit Form command.

Then you decide you want to use tools from the "Modify" menu, e.g. Insert Edge, Insert Point or Flatten. You'll have to close the edit UI, use the Modify command and then re-invoke the Edit UI for more edits. That workflow gets really old really quickly.

In Blender all command are accessible all the time through several pie menus or Keyboard shortcuts.

If you don't know the keyboard shortcuts for the pie menus or the direct tool keyboard shortcuts, that's a problem.

Ultimately, the model needs to be brought into Fusion so you can machine it. Is that correct?

I have exported the low-poly version of the last design I posted. You could try to make the minor modifications in Fusion. I'll then fine-tune it in Blender.

Does that sound like a reasonable approach?

I made a first attempt at a completed model:

Hello,

Thank you. That is starting to look great.

I don't have good internet access so will get back to you when I can open fusion. But much appreciated !

Best

Hi ! Not really, since the bent parts are laminated I am adapting the model in function of the veneer I have access to. I will definitely post a more final version soon. Best regards !

I'd love to see the final version, and I am particularly interested in the overall construction and how the different parts are joined.
