Focal length lost when switching views

I'm in the Render workspace, and I've set up my named view the way I want to render, including a 35mm focal length. I then click on one of the standard views (for example, Home), and the focal length reverts to 90mm. Then I switch back to my named view and it stays at 90mm. Am I doing something wrong, or is it impossible to use named views without losing your focal length setting? This really seems like a bug.

My last response was a little quick.

After some review, it appears that whenever you click a standard view, no matter what the default setting is in preferences (or camera setting style), it seems to always reverts back to 90. Not sure if that is intended behavior or an oversight in the design. This is something I'd like to get to the bottom of.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Hopefully I'm missing something and there is an easy solution.

This option is worth noting, but didn't change this behavior during my quick tests...

No, I'm working in Perspective view, and I already have the Focal Length Preference (shown in the screen shot above) set to 35mm.

Whoops -- I just saw that you updated your reply after I got the email notification. Sounds like we are on the same page. FWIW, all I have to do to reproduce this issue is:

  • Open my design
  • Go to the Render workspace -- at this point the focal length is correct at 35mm
  • Click my named view -- the focal length stays at 35mm
  • Click the HOME view -- the focal length switches to 90mm
  • Click my named view again -- the focal length stays at 90mm

Yes, in fact that's how 35mm got into my Preferences. 🙂

It didn't make any difference to the behavior I described.

Hi @Aaron.Magnin,

I'm having the same issue with my renders. Is there any new development on this issue?

Thank you,

Biance

Hi,

The only thing that comes to my mind is to try changing the preferences and then click apply, then restart Fusion in order to get the new settings to work

I guess it's fixed now, tried it and it worked!

Just tested and confirm this is still the case.

I can only presume it persists because thats the intended behavior of a saved view...on the flip side, however, I can understand why you'd want to maintain the settings made in the scene settings and/or preferences.

I've asked someone with more insight to look into this. For now you'll have to revert the settings if you want to use the named views in the rendering environment.
