Filling area with assemble

Hi, i am working on my 3d print design, it would be a case for 18650 battery cells and i have some problem, i can't figure out what is the best method to fill designated area.

I am new so all comment are welcome

 next question, how to flip those hex-holders that they will fit batteries from the other side.

Hi,

In the screencast, I show you how to create a pattern so that only elements that lie completely within the area of a reference surface are created.
To do this, I connect the elements to a base plate, which is removed again at the end.
This has the benefit that there is only one complete body.
For the second question, please create a new topic and share the f3d file.

Hi, thanks for putting the video together,
do you have a larger version of it available? I'm trying to understand and follow along with the steps you're taking, though i'm unable to clearly see what some of them are in the video, (I'm new to Fusion360 so they're probably simple, but still unfamiliar to me)
This is where I can follow to, I think.
- Create the first sketch with constrained triangle and the 2 hexagons, with dimensions and space defined.
- Create a plane relative to the first sketch
- Create a new triangle sketch on that plane
- Create bodies from both sketches
- Extrude the 2 hexagons (screenshot has settings used)
I've downloaded your f3d file, if I use the extrusion settings shown in the screenshot it doesn't create multiple extrusions of the cells.

A clever, yet simple, solution to a tricky problem.
It would be really perfect if you could display the number of bodies. We need 9,325 couples 🙂

 

BTW,

It works even without a bottom plate.

Hi Michael,
1. since a pattern (compute option = Adjust) with 1000 instances on a reference object is already a challenge for the computer, I would not be surprised if your requirement leads to a system crash.
2. the number of elements on the reference area cannot be determined.

It really is a correction problem. There's several ways that look easy at first. But, are still done manually. You have to do them manually. Here's why. If you were for example going by dimensions and by axis. For example with 60mm blocks. You can fill 600mm with the blocks using pattern. But, you have to fill with 11 blocks. Even if you are only multiplying the space by 10. It's weird, I know.

Another dimension is on the 30 degree axis. The operation is the same. 11 blocks. Except this time the axis is measured of the dimensional block sides conveniently multiplied by 10.

This is the screen shot of the dimensions I collected. That I need for this. Or, just so I can see the dimensions I need whenever. This of course is just the basic way to do this. To be honest the Autodesk automation package. Whether or not if it still exists is about $125,000 a year. But, it comes with the automation Script and Plug in selections to do various performance and collateral analysis. Where you would be able to arrange, sort and pretty much bind bodies around however you like. And, also inside given containers.

There is at least one way to count the parts.
If you mirror the parts, the number is displayed.
