Thanks for trying out the Fusion 360 Drawings Preview.  As this is a preview, we are just scratching the surface in terms of features and functionality.  

If you were to request 5 features to be added to what we have now, what would they be?  What workflows do you need to accomplish that we do not currently support?  

For those of you that used the Documentation beta released last December, you'll notice that the feature set in this release is similar. That said, we've made a number of changes to the interactions of many of the features and most importantly, as a result of your feedback, have focused on delivering much improved performance in the application overall.  If there were things that we had in the December release that you miss, let us know.

Reading through the last 5 pages of replies, just thought I would throw my 2 cents in as well.

Printer support? Why do I have to export as a .pdf and then open it up to print it out? It's super fun when I make a couple rev changes and have to repeat the process.

Associativity from model to print? Testing it out, the features would update on the print, but dimensions were static. I changed a hole from 30mm to 20mm, the hole physically changes, but it was still dimensioned as a 30mm hole. Re-dimensioning it yielded a 20mm dimension.

Lack of specific dimensioning tools and line types. I'd like to draw a circle on a bolt hole pattern to display that they are in fact located on a common axis. No option for center marks for holes/circles? What about construction lines to properly indicate angles between 2 holes?

What about print templates? Quite often I will see myself inputting the Same. Stuff. Over. And. Over. 

The title block info: Is it really necessary to have to click/drag to add info? Any thoughts on making it more like a Windows Excel Field interaction so you would just click on the box that is there, type what you need and be done? Maybe when you click on a field, a bar would pop up with simple formatting options, like font size/style/color and justification left/right/center etc. 

Also in regards to the title block, a little customization would be nice, such as adding or redacting fields. I'd want to occasionaly add something in regards to Mat'l, Coating, Rc, Edge Breaks, Fillets, what have you. Individual needs will vary depending on shop needs, which is why I advocate some custom modifications ability

Hi Seth,

Thanks for the feedback.  We definitely are tracking these requests and using them to prioritize what we work on next.  I do have a few questions/comments about some of your items:

1. For the dimension that did not update for the design change, that sounds like a bug.  The view should always update for changes in the design, and the dimensions to that view should always update for changes in the view.  If for some reason the dimension was disassociated due to the design/view change it should get badged with a yellow ! icon.  Did you see this?  If not would it be possible for you to export or share the design/drawing with me, christopher.miller@autodesk.com so I can take a look?

2.  We have center lines on the roadmap.  In the meantime, one option which *may* satisfy your need to dimension the angle between two holes is hitting Enter after starting the Angular Dimension tool and using the "Specify vertex" option.

3.  User-specified templates/titleblocks are also on the roadmap.  Currently you can enter values by double-clicking the titleblock, you should see a title block editor dialog appear.

Yeah the printing part is very important, would love to be able to "print all" selected drawings inside Fusion 360 without having to open it individually (and exporting it first as it's now)

Another request would be for Drawings to have its own workspace (something like what you guys did for CAM) and that I will not have to create a new drawing file to be populated in my data panel as it's right now. If you look at my post earlier about data panel management, you'll have an idea of what I'm referring to. 

Also I suggest that there's an option for the user to manually apply the auto update as it'll give the user an idea what has shifted/changed/broken. I hope Autodesk takes the implementation of drawings seriously and to my understanding some features that is requested do sound unnecessary for hobbyist but it's crucial for those people who are paying for Ultimate, so I guess some of those features could be for Ultimate only, something like Advance Drawings or something.

Well there are some really good replies in here! A lot that I agree with. These are things that I think the others miss. Sorry if I am repeating, but I am at work and didn’t want to take too much time. Any way the changes I would like to see are

1. being able to make a table driven component and have the different versions so on the prints, with the option to select which ones can be shown. This would really make work easier. I make a lot of parts with small changes. So more like a series of parts that are all linked to one print.
2. Inserting logos. The company logo would add a nice touch to my prints. Currently I use a pdf editor to add them
3. being able to turn off different parts once inserted into the drawling
4. Printing something directly from fusion. If you already have this I am sorry and please point me in the right direction.

Long story short I would rather not have to use the pdf editor and just use Fusion. Saving and uploading the pdf then editing and saving again is not efficient as I would like to be. These would all save me time at work and make me more productive. Yep that’s only 4 but I didn’t want to repeat others too much.

2 (Insert) and 4 (Direct Print) of your requests are currently being planned for Fusion's drawings and we are looking forward to having them in future releases.

We are also very eager to get to what you are describing in 3 (Toggling component visibility) - You can, although it may not be optimal, select which components or assemblies you'd like in the drawing at the time of creation by right clicking on a specific component and selecting "Create New Drawing". 

Additionally, in the process of creating a drawing you can uncheck "Full Assembly" and select individual components.

Hope this might help you achieve the drawings you're trying to produce in the meantime.

I am very interested to hear more about what you are describing in 1 (Table driven components) could you tell me a little bit more about what you're thinking about there?

So I was talking about using like your function driven parts, but being able to store different values for that part in a table.

Like this is a table for a part series that I have been working on. Here is the drawing of it (attached) I'd like to have the table auto inserted into the drawling. This way I can just call out the part number on a print that is at the manufacture and they know what one to make. I currently insert the table separately with a pdf editor. I hope that makes sense.

I have loved this fusion 360. Coming fr0m CATIA and Solid works background this is exactly the power I needed at the price I can afford. However The only HUUUUGE drawback is the Drafting. There is NO SYMBOLS like Counterbore, Countersink. Depth. Put in at "LEAST" those three. These are basic symbols that are seen on every single drawing. I mean how can you have CAM without a counterbore symbol its just crazy. Having proper drawings is like THE thing that lets a concept become manufactured.

I would like the ability to stretch text to fit a shape, or insert it INTO a shape and have it conform to the shape... I have included an example.

I would also like the ability to resize text and have it NOT conform to the original constraints of aspect ratio.

If I grab the right font window and move it to the left and up I'd like to be able to have the text stretch up and squish ...

i.e . make tall skinny letters.

I have two important request, stuff I think is basic and should have added in first place from the first release, I made the appropriate posts on IdeaStation too... but noone even views them.

1) Simplified representation of stuff, can be automatic, or manual... or something, but at least a basic version of this feature is really needed, some models can get incredibly complex, and will make them impossible to work with on weaker workstations (example: if you are modellign something that has a air grate... suddenly the air grate alone has more surfaces than the rest of the model and make everything slow to a crawl).

2) Allowing reference drawings to have separate calibration on X and Y scale... it is almost impossible to take a photo of something with X and Y perfectly accurate, there are several reasons for geometry to be slightly wrong, being able to calibrate on two scales is a must (example: you add as reference a car, you know the exact distance between the axles, and between the floor and roof... this way you can calibrate it perfectly)

I have just started to use the Drawing feature in Fusion 360.  Thus far, I have only 1 suggestion: Ability to include Trail Visiblity if the drawing is generated from an animation

I've done some basic 2d mechanical drawings, but am now starting to use the Drawings to try and create a simple print assembly manual for my assembly.  I am attempting to do this via series of drawings, 1 per assembly step.  I am basing each drawing off simple 'part explosion' animations...1 animation per step, 1 drawing per animation.  If the trail visilbity were included in the drawing, as outlined in the animation, one could easily generate a fairly nice assembly manual using this funcationality.
