faces refuse to join/combine

Hi there I'm new to F360 and am at the point of throwing it away.

I have read a bunch of 'solutions' which don't seem to work for me. I'm making an structural model of a building an have some flat faces which are on the same geometrical level but cannot be joined. I get errors or just get ignored whenever I try to combine the faces or delete the unwanted edges. I must be doing something stupid but Nothing i have read has worked.

Can anyone please help me out? Any suggestions welcome - I've even tried the 'pipe' trick to no avail

Please attach your model as it is needed to troubleshoot your issue.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

Thank you so much for the reply! Just for context this is hopefully going to be a 3d printed model of a house which I'm printing in separate 'floors' that will stack. The file was created by drawing over some architectural floorplans in Illustrator, exporting as SVGs then extruding upwards in F360.

Please see attached for my file.

The faces indicated, were not on the same plane.  I used Extrude to match them up.  Model is attached.  If you need further explanation, let me know.

Wow thats amazing, thank you!

Can I ask:

1. what do you mean by "on the same plane" do you mean at the same planer level in the geometry (i.e they were not lined up) or something else?
2. how did you match them up? where did you inspect/edit the properties, I've not found anything which shows or gives me the fidelity of control to do this in F360. I have been relying on snapping and memorised vector point values.

Thank you!

On the same plane is what you say, the surfaces do not line up.  In the Screencast I show how I measure the difference and then I show how I used the Extrude command to match up surfaces.  I did not do it exactly right the first time as I had to be sure the surfaces I fixed first, there is a little trail and error to find the proper sequence.  Hope this keeps you from throwing Fusion 360 in the trash.

Thats fantastic. I'm so impressed I can't believe I missed so many controls and features. to be fair thats what makes the application seem so easy to use but I guess theres a lot of hidden depth if you know where to look.
I cant thank you enough John! You have saved me at least a hundred grey hairs and about 5 hours of my weekend!

Please understand, I have been working in CAD for over 30 years and Fusion 360 for over 3 so my learning curve is very long.  I also have a lot of gray hair but for age not Fusion 360.  Come back to the Forum sooner, before you get frustrated, there are a lot of good tutors here.  Drop me a private message if you want, I can help you over your learning curve if needed.

Hello @jhackney1972   Great trick.  It was also what I needed to fix some things, however, oddly I still have many faces that won't merge even after trying this.  I have faces that compare at a plane distance of 0.00m (some say I have an angle of 0 degrees and some say 180 degrees - head scratch there).   But I cannot get them to merge!  I am uploading my model here.  I would really appreciate your masterful insight!   Thanks so much.

Here is an example.   There are a handful of surfaces like this I cannot get to merge even though they are at 0mm from each other.

increase the precision on the measure tool and you will see the above statement isn't true!
