F360 Copy and Paste to another drawing?

Hi guys, I'm catching on by all the help here!  I'm trying to copy a complex body and paste it into another drawing. I don't want to redraw this body (arghh!)  I'm sure this is easy but can't find it.

Thanks

Nelson

I tried coping a few components between designs and it's worked every time, doesn't matter whether I click on copy with the left or right button. Are you 100% sure the first time you picked on the component and not the body within the component. Althought that doesn't seem like an easy mistake to make.

Sorry, I've gone back and tried to duplicate why it didn't work but it always works now. Can't figure it out.

Mark, again thanks for all the help.  To sum up, my problem is solved.

Hi fishtruk,

Thanks for posting.  Sometimes after some work flows in a file Fusion 360 might not work the way it should be. For example if you tried to copy and paste a sketch it only works at the Sketch Environment.  Sometimes moving an "Offset Plane to any position" only works if the "Plane" was created at the "Create Form" or "Create Base Feature" environment but not at the Parametric Mode or environment. If your problems kept on coming back you should report again and the Board Managers might ask you for a log. Sometimes you might have found a bug that only happened in certain conditions. I found quite a few in the last three to four years of using Fusion 360. The team is quite good on listening to possible bug reports.

The more you use Fusion the more you will understand!

The possibility to copy components is also useful to create several states of your product inside the same design. So a different component for each production process. With this workflow you can create a single drawing of each component in the same design like discussed. This way a mono drawing with only the specific information for outsourcing a heat treatment for example, can be attached with the product.

I'm wondering if there will be a possibility to copy a fully defined Drawing to use this for a new design with only a minor changes. For us this is a common situation and would save us a lot of time instead of make new drawings again.

"Model" or "design", not "drawing". Drawing is the work space for producing PDF's.
