'extruded' copies

HI

Someone showed me a way to select a body and then create multiple copies in a line where you select also the number of copies and their spacing.  I don't know where to find the tool that does this operation.

I would appreciate a hint.

Hello thetimpotter,

Welcome and tank you for posting to the Fusion forum. Reading this post I am thinking your looking for the Pattern command. This should allow you to make multiple copies in a dimensional spacing distance. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you Don.

That is close enough to do what I'd like to do, but I remember being able
to draw out the bodies without first drawing a path. I wonder if there is
a pattern tool that is 'pattern' without the 'pattern on path'. I think it
opened up the directional arrows similar to the sculpt environment, and
then pulling on an arrow would draw out the number of chosen bodies at
chosen spaces.

hi thetimpotter,

yup, it's the pattern tool, as Don showed you.  You do need to pick a direction reference (As Don illustrated on the additional geometry he's showing), you can also just use the coordnate system to do this as in the image below. Once you select the primary direction (in this case the green or y-axis) then you can drag the manipulators to get your pattern.

hope this helps.
