Extrude text

Sigh. It seems like every time I try to take what I've learned so far and apply it to a new situation, I fail.

In this case, I want to make a simple embossed text part. I made a block, then sketched a name on it, and now I want to press/pull/extrude that text up a bit. But I get errors from Fusion 360 (October 2016 release):

  1. The press/pull arrow does not appear, and the distance box is far offset from the center of the sketch.
  2. If I type a value into the box, it reports "Inconsistent edge-face relationships."

File enclosed.

Thanks for any help

Seems to be a problem with the font, but I don't see why that should be. Other fonts work, but I'd sure like to get that font to work.

Without the font you're using there's no way to help I'm afraid. Can you share the font as well? I see you have another thread about filleting extruded text, did you figure out how to use this font or use another?

I used a different font that extruded just fine. I figured filleting was a different issue, hence a different post. The font that gave me the issue is Zapfino.

I tried your font file but windows complaints it's not a valid font and it doesn't install, don't know what's wrong.

Hm. It's a standard macOS font, I think. I guess it's possible it was installed with Photoshop.

I'm having this issue as well 😕 I'm using the standard font from Fusion though and it still says it. One font will work and another one won't yet both are from the Fusion library. I wanted to try and project the font but can't seem to do that either to try a work around as such.

TIA if anyone can help

Josh

Hi Jet,

What I've managed to work out is I don't need to press pull/extrude my text as I am engraving the part I've used the Trace and Engrave command and worked it from there.

Not sure how to have the letters raised though. I imported a DXF i made with the text I wanted and extruded that, but the DXF had 2000 odd lines in it and made my systems freeze most of the time. It work but was an absolute nightmare.

Good luck and I'll keep in touch if I find a solution 😉

@JetForMe

Simple solution, download Inkscape, make your text and export a svg. Import that svg into fusion and your good to go works every time with all text.
