Extrude Cut to Object not playing nice

OK First off a disclaimer this part will have the 4 finger holes filled in.  This will be a medal for a boxing fundraiser.

I am looking to engrave the text in Sketch 3 onto the curved surface and have tried a few different ways and I'm running out of options.

I'd like to try extruding this to the surface but I keep getting popups for inconsistent edge-face relationships.

I'm thinking the bahnschriff font is what is giving me issues. Now I'm trying to extrude cut the letter "E" onto a flat surface and it's not letting me do that without throwing an error.
