Exporting File to FTC Synthesis

Anonymous

Hi, I'm currently a student part of a high school robotics team, who is trying export a CAD File to an application that simulates robots (FTC Synthesis). As a part of the steps to export, tutorials instruct users to make make sure that the extension of robot exporter needs to be added in order to start the process. Linked here

Unfortunately, my robotics team mate, coach, and I cannot seem to find the extension on Fusion. We've tried updating Fusion, re-installing both Fusion and Synthesis, and it seems that the extension is still unavailable. Is there anyone who know's what to do? I am aware that Fusion has currently gone through an update, and that may have affected this extension but thought to ask in case if this wasn't the case.

@Anonymous - I'd love to help here, but I don't know Synthesis enough to provide any input.  This sounds like something you could maybe help with!  Thanks.

Hello @Anonymous,

Are you able to provide a few more details on what system you are running Fusion and Synthesis on as well as the versions of each of the software? I do know that the Synthesis add-in within Fusion for MacOS has had some changes with various updates and some users have reported some issues on Windows since we are undergoing quite a design change on the backend right now.

In the meantime, I might suggest reviewing a few solutions on the Synthesis forum regarding this very issue to see if any of those correct your current add-in. I will look into this a little further and see if I can replicate your issue. Feel free to email our team FRC@autodesk.com or reply via the Synthesis forums to share about your system information.

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties with continuing to utilize the exporter. Currently, we are not supporting older versions of Synthesis as we are preparing to release a beta of a re-structured Synthesis in the near future that will be correcting a lot of the "buggy" components users experienced.

As a quick fix for the meantime until the beta is released, I was working with some users over the summer and it seems the Fall 2019 Synthesis release worked better for their system. I would also verify that the Synthesis Fusion 360 add-in within this directory: `YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\API\AddIns\`  looks like the following:

If you are still having issues, I'm happy to send you a .zip file with the add-in I was able to get running on my PC and we could troubleshoot. Feel free to reach out at kira.corbett@autodesk.com
