Export to DWG no good?

Made a simple design, ready to send it off to a job shop to burn it out on a laser. I use the export function to make a DWG for them to work from, but they cannot open it. I take it to work and try to open it with ProE, and dont have any luck. Any suggestions?

Yes, export it as a DXF.

I've exported DXF many times for laser cutting.

I know that this does not answer the question why DWG does not work as expected but at least it hopefully gets you on track t complete you projects.

Thanks for the response.

The Output button only has options for DWG and PDF.

File -> Export is greyed out.

I am running the software on a Mac, should I install it on ym windows machine and try the same?

You would not export a flat shape for laser cutting with file export.

You can right-click on the sketch in the browser that created the shape you want to have laser cut and select "Save as DXF".

We had a similar problem here (i'll create a new thread about it to find a real solution but this one did the job temporarily), all laser cut suppliers told the .dwg files were blank.

Aparently fusion exports to dwg as a sheet layout, so if you open it in autocad it'll be in the "layout" tab, which is no good. What we did was download the autocad trial and run the "export layout" command so the drawing would be transfered to the "model" tab in autocad and then we saved it and it was ok with the laser cutting guys.

Hope it helped, i'll have to make a new thread about this because our trial version has ended and it's actually a shame that fusion doesn't export dwg files correctly since it was all created by autodesk...

Best regards,
