Export Assembly as Separate Files vs. Save Bodies One By One?

I noticed that if I export my whole assembly as STLs with one file per body, the polygon counts per file are really low compared to using the same setting on a body by body basis. I have a high poly mesh in my assembly from Make Human, but it was not visible and not exported, but I suspect F360 counted all the polygons and then "decided" to reduce them to a reasonable number.

When I exported just the component with interesting parts, the polygon counts were pretty close to what I get if I save each body separately.

Intended or bug?

About the mesh not being exported, it's simply because it needs to be a BRep body to be exported as an stl file

As for exporting the component giving you the same result as exporting each body alone, it's intended of course

Components save you a lot of work when you use them, and this is one of the many cases

That big mesh wasn't even visible. Only visible objects are exported. There were other bodies that would have been eligible for export if they had been visible, so maybe they caused the difference.

I know it's a great shortcut when I want to export a big assembly to MyMiniFactory, but wouldn't you say that it would be correct for the export to produce the same mesh that you would get if you exported each body separately? That's why I think that this is potentially a really serious bug. I'm talking about a difference of 300KB per body file vs. 50KB per body file STL when using the mass export method.
