Empty STEP files

Hi there,

I'm having trouble with exporting a Fusion 360 file to a STEP-file. I tried different ways to export but nothing worked.

It's one solid single body so it shouldn't have any problems but when I go to file > export > choose STEP and save it on my desktop, it creates a file that is empty and still is 1,2 MB -> I tried to attach it here, but that failed as well.

Here the public link to the F360-file: https://a360.co/2NodFnr

I would be happy if you could help me out!
Thanks in advance.

Hello-

I was able to recreate your issue of the step file coming in empty.  That is odd.

I did find a work-around, though...

1.  Do a File-->Export of your part as an IGES file.

2.  Then open the IGES file into Fusion 360.

3.  Finally, do an Export of the IGES part as a STEP file.

I was able to open the step file after doing the above steps.

Hope this helps.

Brad

Thanks! That works!

But do you have an idea why I can't do it directly?

I was having this same issue, but was able to solve it. For whatever reason, you can not be "editing" a sketch when you export as a .STEP file. So, enure that you click "Finish Sketch", before exporting and your .STEP file should no longer be blank / empty.
