Empty space in model shows up with infill when exported as .stl

Is there something I need to do to prep a model before I export it as a .stl. I have a simple shape I made:

f360 model.jpg

When I try to export this as a .stl to print in S3D the empty center space shows up with infill and it prints a top layer over the whole thing.

All i did was a couple of sketched circles and extruded faces.

The best I can tell the slicer software is trying to print a solid layer over the top of the cylinder when it is done. I'm not sure how to designate the middle of my cylinder as voidspace or make sure there isnt a face on the top of the cylinder that I cant see.

can you show a shot of the model in simplify3d without the toolpath preview?

The weird thing is I tried leaving it on it's side and it try to cap the top.

I re-did my sketches with sketchup and ended up with the same infill issue, so the problem must lay in the slicer software.

Happened to me too. The reason was the Simplify3D Advanced setting: Advanced -> Merge all outlines into a single solid model.

Once disabled, the problem disappered. Makes sense, after all.
