editing Sheet Metal Rules after converting an imported Part to SheetMetal Part

Dear All,

Have a question about converting an imported part to sheetmetal part.
When I get a Step format part i need to modify or just create a drawing or dxf from it incl flat pattern, i have problem with the bending radius.
I have pre configured sheet metal rules, but the original step file was drawn with a different bend radius. And this is the case most of the time... (I have to adapt the sheet metal parts to the particular manufacturers specs many times.)
So how could I change all the parameters like bend radius and k factor etc after i convert an imported (step) part which was drawn in a different software as a sheetmetal part with a particular (different) sheet metal rule?

Thanks,

It is unclear to me whether you are only trying to change the rules, or are you also trying to change the geometry?  Can you File >Export and then Attach your *.f3d here?

Hi,

This is the original part I received as a step file. Then I imported it, and did want to convert into a sheetmetal part.

But the manufacturer who would make the prototype needs it to be drawn with 0.2mm bending radius...

So after I convert it into a sheetmetal part, and then I edit the Sheetmetal rules, the bending radius does not change.

my current workaround is that I change the radius (fillet) manually for all bending edges (here I only have 90deg bendings) while the part is still a solid part, and I just convert is into sheetmetal part. This is a very slow, and annoying thing, and only works for 9í deg bends. So I am looking for a normal solution for this problem...

thanks,

the radius setting in the rules will only change the radius of bends created with the flange tool.  it doesn't change fillets created some other way.

one course of action

-delete all the fillets on the outside surface.

-make copy of outside surface (offset surface w/ 0 offset)

-apply fillets the size you want.

-thicken

-convert to sheet metal
