Editing projected geometry.

Why is it that I can edit and trim projected geometry in SW and Inventor nut not in Fusion. I am making a fixture and I needed to project some geometry as a part of this fixture but I cannot edit it or make it part of my sketch like I have been doing on other programs. How can I make this happen without having to manually trace over every line I projected? Seems to render the projected geometry fairly useless for me.

One of the things that differentiates Fusion 360 from other CAD solution is that you can extrude more than one body for the same sketch and if these bodies are adjacent they'll joint into one solid body.

That often eliminates the need for trimming altogether. In Fusion 360 it is not necessary to design the exact outline you want to extrude, revolt etc.

While the sketch might look unusual for someone coming from another CAAd system this can eliminate quite a bit of tedious trimming work.

Try using Break Link on the projected geometry.

No it never ends! I personally find that enjoyable.

Before following what in think is really only advisable in borderline cases My suggestion would be to familiarize yourself more with Fusion 360.

Breaking the link between the projected sketch elements and the referencing items, the other sketch elements or body vertices, edges and faces you'll loose a good bit of the parametric nature of Fus9in 360. Updates to the referencing items will not be reflected in the projected geometry.

Just because you can break the link, does not mean you should.

Any time I project geometry in Inventor, I automatically highlight it and delete constraints. Always. I found out the hard way what happens if you do not do this in an assembly when you project from another part.
