Edit sketch without saving in Fusion 360

Hello,

I found a lot of results on this for Inventor via search but there seems to be no discussion on this for the Fusion 360.

Is there actually a way to stop sketching without saving the changes in sketch?

The reason for this is that I sometimes use sketch just to do measurements on complex assemblies or components, and don't want to save anything (I'd have to consciously remember to remove it from the tree, and if it is ever forgotten and someone continues working on it on the shared cloud, it becomes potentially buried into our very complex tree). Sometimes I also try to test out how the sketch contour changes if I tweak certain dimensions in the sketch, just for me to see and brainstorm, and then I'd want to exit the sketch without saving to revert to the current status. An exit option without saving would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Just the Undo Command, or as you mention, immediate delete.  Both have to be "at the time" otherwise very careful delete.

Yes I have until now always used the undo function, but I do feel that an option to abandon sketch changes with just one click would be extremely beneficial. It's like in Excel when you wrote some sentences in and thought that, "Nah actually what my colleague wrote inside is already a good statement," you'd intuitively hit Esc and expect your cell to go back to normal as if nothing had happened. (I never knew how much I took this function for granted until I've recently came across multiple software which did not revert but instead commits changes by clicking Esc...)

This sort of reversion possibility would be a great plus, but too bad to see that it's possibly not currently built in in Fusion 360.

I like the idea. But then you're going to get a bunch of folks coming on the forum going, "I spent six hours developing a sketch and then accidentally backed out of it without committing the changes! What can I do?"

Haha yes I can imagine that. I'm perhaps spoiled by my previous experience with CATIA where it always asks you if you want to save or discard the changes when you exit. (I can already imagine people complaining as well that it's annoying to have to click on the window everytime, in my opinion keyboard hotkeys help well to avoid mouse movement; perhaps this windows could be disabled in the preferences.)

It could be an option in the drop-down menu of finish sketch.
The default option would still be “save and exit” but, whit a few extra clicks, there would be the option to exit without saving for those who need it.

I come from Solidworks and I miss this option.
