Edit sketch on mirrored body only.

Hi there

I have created a body based on a series of sketches and then created a mirror of that body. However, the mirror of that body needs the original profile sketch to be slightly different. but whenever I try to edit the profile sketch of the mirrored body (using right click, edit profile sketch, not the timelime feature, it edits both bodies.

Is there a way round this?

When you edit the sketch, you're moving back in time to before the mirrored object was created.  Any changes made will be reflected in the mirror.

One way to work around this is to create a copy of the original (assuming you're following Rule#1 and the sketches are in the original component).  You can now mirror the copy and the changes will not be reflected in the original.  The copy component's body can be removed to lessen clutter.

If you're not following Rule#1, then create a new sketch based on the mirror, make the changes and use Extrude|Join or Extrude|Cut to change the mirror body.

There's probably a few other ways to make changes to the mirror without affecting the original.
