Drawings tip-of-the-week #5: Global Preferences option for Line Width Control

This quick tip is brought to you by one of our Drawings Product Owners, @Pramod.kadam , who helps bridge the gap between the feature requests we hear from customers like you all and our development teams, breaking them down into actionable pieces.

When working with manufacturing drawings, it’s important to be able to preview your PDF result, with line widths depicted as they will be printed. Thanks to feedback we gathered from many of you, our May Release introduced Line Width control into Drawings for the first time.

You  can now choose from five levels of thickness, ranging from very thin to very thick, as well as toggle ‘Display Line Widths’ on/off from the Document Settings, now located in the Browser tree.

But, did you know you can also make use of Global preferences available in the Drawing section to set the default Line Width Group and default  Display Line Width state for all of your newly created ‘From Scratch’ drawings? Adjusting your preferences as desired here means you won’t need to change your settings every time when creating new drawings.

Here’s how:

  • Go to Preferences >> General >>Drawing section.
  • Set the default Line Width Group option your preferred option
  • Set the default display of line widths using ‘Display Line Width’ toggle
  • Once you set your defaults, these will be applied by default to all the drawings created afterwards using the ‘From Scratch’ option.

Hello. Help is needed. Why does line weight not work correctly when I use a drawing template?
