Drawings from sub components

I just wonder is there some specific reason why "subcomponents" can't be left out from drawings although you use Select components selection? So if you make alternative variations of a (sub)component under another component you can't make drawings of different construction variations?

Or is it the only possibility to put all components to main level in the browser if I like to leave something off from drawings? If it's so, it becames more difficult to keep complicated constructions in logical order in the Browser tree.

Hi,

It is currently possible to create drawing of a selection of sub-components by selecting just those components in the browser (Ctrl+Select) and using the Create Drawing option on the right-click menu.

Sub-Components.png

However, once the view is generated it always reflects the component (or selection) it was created of, and can't easily be edited (besides depending on how you created it possibly moving things around in the model browser).  We are currently working on enhancements to the current component selection for views which will allow the editing of what appears in the view after it's created.  Timing is T.B.D. for this but it should be within the next few major releases.

Not sure this answers your question.  If you have a specific example It would be great if you could share a screen cap of the browser with showing the different selections of what you want to create the drawing views of.

Thanks,
Chris

Thank's for your answer. Probably the screencast will show better what I mean. You can't select a certain subcomponent to a drawing under a main component, Fusion will take all subcomponents under main component to drawings. Sometimes it could be nessecary to make drawings with different (sub)component variations.

Thanks for the video, I think I see what's happening.  Around second 22 you select a box, is this box a body under that Main Component 2?  You can see that as soon as you select it, the Main Component 2 node in the browser highlights and the sub-component which is turned off gets highlighted in the design.  Visibility settings in the design do not get reflected in the drawing.  The solution for this case would be to make that box a sub-component, then you could select it individually without selecting Main Component 2.

Thanks,

Chris
