Drawing update bug?

If you have a Design with a number of components.

And make changes to the Design.

Then save it.

Then update an associated Drawing (which will be showing the warning symbol to say that it needs updating).

The Drawing will not update properly IF you did not select the root of the component tree in the Design before performing that last Save.

I don't think that's a feature. 😉

Hi maker9876,

I will give this a look and see if I can reproduce the problem, in the meantime I'm hoping you can provide a little more detail on the workflow involved.  Did you create the drawing using the entire design or a subset of components?  Is the edit being done to the design being done to one of the components in the drawing?  Does the design involve xrefs or native components in the design?

It would be great if you could share your design with me, christopher.miller@autodesk.com, or export the Fusion archive for the drawing which is not updating correctly (in data panel click the i > click Open Details on Web > Download (upper right corner) > Fusion 360 Archive) , that would also help in narrowing down the problem.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

It was a multi-component design and the drawing was of one component.

It was that component that I was modifying and saving in the design.

Having experienced - I think - as described above twice this afternoon I filed the report. But now I've just spent over half an hour trying to recreate it but to no avail.

So i guess that means we have to close this.

The design contains a number of linked components which means, it seems, that one can't create .f3d files.

Sorry. Will be ready if this re-emerges.

OK, glad to hear it's working but I'm definitely interested in hearing if it does resurface again.  This type of issue is often "fixed" with a close of all files and restart of Fusion, doing a re-set of sorts, but that shouldn't be required.  Thanks for letting me know it's working again.
