Drawing layered object with slot

Hello Fusion forum,

I would like to draw this object (see reference photo) in Fusion. The object has a slot in the middle. I was able to sketchthe bottom and middle layer as two seperate components, but I'm not sure how to add the top layer to the object since it sticks out over the middle one. How do I go about designing this so it will be one body?

I added the dimensions of all layers as attachment. The extrusion of all layers are: L1 (bottom) 17mm, L2 (middle) 21mm and L3 (top) 22mm. The object is horizontally symmetrical, the middle layer is 2mm from the edges of the bottom layer.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Extrude the 1st sketch, your layers are 10 times too high, to match pictures. (Fixed after the extrudes)

Make the 2nd sketch on top of the 1st block. (Half is quicker)

Extrude the second sketch as Join to the 1st plate.

Mirror feature, the 2nd Extrude,

Make the 3rd sketch on top of the 2nd layer, (half is quicker - common stuff is Projected.)

Mirror feature, the 3rd Extrude,

Solid Fillet the bottom layer.

ddmpdb3.PNG

Important, the 2nd and 3rd layers are not length dimensioned, but looks like they line up to the fillets.

Might help....

Hi Dave,

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!  How do I sketch the third (top) layer? My sketch wouldn't lock the first time I tried, I think because it sticks out. The middle layer doesn't touch the edges, its 2mm from the sides of the bottom later (I hope this makes sense)

Then your dimensions for layer 2 are incorrect.

Put the 3rd sketch on top of the second extrude.

The closed profile will be selectable for the 3rd extrude.

Check the distances, from the centre line, and along the centre line.

Might help…..
