Self explanatory I believe. When Display component colors is active, DOF view does not work. Turn off display component colors and it works

Why would you need Depth of Field in the simulation environment ? Or are you talking about the render environment ?

Thanks for bringing it up.

This is sort of as-design. One of the inspect commands available in Simulation is component colors. Component colors are intended to be temporary, to completely re-color the model, and we may have missed this case.

Is your expectation that component colors would be turned off, and DOF would completely take over coloring, while it's active?

For now, please use shift+N, to toggle component colors off. You can do this while DOF is in effect. Perhaps the intent of the command designer was to allow you to view DOF and toggle component colors temporarily to see the different components. After all, if every component is red for DOF, the user might want to toggle back and forth to see the different components with component colors.

@Phil.E, thanks for your input. I understand that I can toggle component color and get the DOF view. My expectation is that when I toggle DOF view on, it will display the DOF view whether or not I have component coloring turned on or not. Most often, I have component coloring turned on when working with assemblies in simulations. When I turn DOF view on, nothing seems to happen. In the design workspace, when you apply a material or an appearance, if you have componenet coloring turned on when starting the command, it will temporarily turn off until you have completed what you have to do in that command. Component coloring will turn back on once you close the command window.

For now, I work around that as you have suggested, but I think this is a worthwhile improvement.
