Dividing a model into equal segments

Not applicable

Hi guys,

I'm completely new to this and was wondering how I could split the model shown below into four equal parts? The model measures 40cm x 40cm and I'd like to print them in four pieces of 20cm x 20cm squares.

Here's another view of the model:

Centre the model on the origin,

Use the Origin Planes to cut (a solid) model, with Split body command.  Three goes and that is because you can only split one body at a time.

Edit, If that is a mesh body disregard, and use Plane cut in the Mesh Environment, or Meshmixer.

Hello @Anonymous
After you import your stl.file you must turn of your design history; then go to the mesh file in the browser and rigth click it, go to convert mesh to brep, en create a new body.

You can split this new body creating a planes as you need.

I see on your file, construction lines, mark it as a full lines and you can uses like a split tool too.

I'd hazard a guess that the model will have too many facets to be converted to brep.  If so, your best bet will be as @davebYYPCU says and use Meshmixer.

Doing this in Meshmixer is IMHO the best hint. However - If you want to know how to lower the number of faces, this video might help you. But it involves Meshmixer again 😉
