Display color of a loft depends on profile sequence?

I notice something strange, but repeatable.

Given the following loft:

(The following applies to the triangular loft above)

Select "create loft", select the blue line as profile 1, select the top corner as profile 2, select the sides as rails.

Then go to the "physical material" menu/window and drag the "polymide (Kapton)" onto the new loft. It will appear as above.

However if you do the following:

Delete the loft created above.

Select "create loft", select the top corner as profile 1, select the blue line as profile 2, select the sides as rails.

Then go to the "physical material" menu/window and drag the "polymide (Kapton)" onto the new loft. It will appear as below:

Why this difference? is it a bug or is there something I am missing?

Hi,

1. This is normal for surface elements (without thickness)
The assignment of material or appearance is done on only one page.
2. Remedy: Change the alignment "Inverse/Normal" or connect area with "Stitch".

Thanks Guenther,

That makes sense, in a way... 😉

Hello Guenther,

In your reply to Lugt a couple of weeks ago, you explained how surfaces with no thickness may appear in different colors depending on the sequence used with the Loft tool. You showed how to correct these using the Reverse Normal tool on the Modify menu.

What you didn't state was which color is the "normal" one. On my version of Fusion 360, these surfaces appear either Gold or Silver/Gray as shown below. Which color represents the "top" surface?

I apologise if this is a basic question. I'm a Fusion 360 "newbie"! 🙂

Thanks in advance,

Jean-Paul

Std colour scheme - Silver gray is outside / normal , gold inside / reverse.

Might help....

Hi,

Unlike the outside, no material (or appearance) can be applied to the inside.
