Dimensioning in drawing isometric problem

Hi!

I have a problem with dimensioning a drawing. The dimension feature says it can't be done, besause it is isometric. I've read a thread about this here on the forum, and made a named view on the corresponding parts face. Then I Used it as the base view of the drawing, but still no luck with the dimensions. Also diameter dimensions work fine, but I can't place center points, guess thats because of the same problem. Any Ideas?

Laszlo

Hi!

The hole thing is a part of a bigger design. So I've exported the subassembly only, which contains the part I'd like to make a drawing from.
What you have to know about this, is it originally had funny angles, because the whole steering assembly I made has a 45deg. angle at the bottom, it attaches to an approx. 20deg. baseplate and it is even rotated in 25degrees outwards.

I include a picture for better understanding:

steering angles.PNG

So now I just exported the steering assembly (I've already tried to make a drawing from that too, but no luck).

The other thing: The steering shaft was originally made from one revolve feature, and I later realiyed I dont want to machine it from one 45dia material (smallest dia is 8mm so a lot of time and material waste...), so I've cut it in two pieces and made components from it (I'm planning to make a weld joint on the ends).

Basically thats the whole thing... I can't make it work, although it is a really simple part, so it would be easy to make it in a separate file just for the drawing, but it should work in the design too, annoying stuff.

You can find the part I want to make a drawing out of here (marked with the red dot):

Thanks!

Hi @cardy-,

Thank you for the additional info & the data set.

Based on the expectation you have - it is obvious that dimension should work consistently.
The data you shared gives an exceptional case, we are going to track it through a bug & the ID is FDWG-10261

Thanks & regards

Amit

Hi!

Thanks for the answer and the care. Could you tell me where can I check the status of the bug? I could not find it anywhere.

Hi @cardy- ,

The bug IDs are generated when we log the issues and these are for internal tracking purpose.
I just doubt that you may not be able to access that BUG ID without Autodesk employee ID.

Coming back to your concern about the bug status,

you can track it through Whats New Page, for each new upgrade.
