Die Set Design

Hey all,

I need some help with this design, and I think I messed up some of the motion and joints.  I've tried several things to fix it including deleting and re adding joints.  I can add a public link or a .f3 file to anyone that would like to help me figure this out where I went wrong.

Thanks in advance.  🙂

We like to answer questions,

Did your file link fail?

Got the file.

What do you want to happen?

The Guide Posts must be rigid joint to the Die Shoe.  The bushings in the Punch Holder must be rigid to the Punch Holder.  The motion and assemly is the guide posts fit through the bushings plus are a slide motion up and down the guide posts.

Two other plans for this design is to add CAM Files to be able to machine the holder and shoe.  Also, add better drawings.  I also would like to make this scaleable, because the shape is the same but there are different sizes.

I have another design with a similar problem.  It's motion was correct before the import from OnShape.

Unground the Punch Holder.

Delete Contact Sets.

Animate model now works, but you will now need some Joint Limits.

Ok, I've deleted all the contacts and the grounding.  Still doesn't appear to work.  Yes, I need to set the limits but still doesn't appear to work.

Also I noted that in the myhub.autodesk.com the guide posts appear out of the assembly.

Shall I have to add you to the project?

Your file arrived in this state, other than my 2 stated changes.  A360 preview was dissolved a little.

Dieshoe.PNG

Animate either Slider with Animate Model, works, but click drag the components doesn't, but there is a setting to allow that, and there is no timeline, so either or both those conditions were not addressed.

Because I have what you requested, working here, I don't need the access to the project, unless there is something else.  daveb at ix dot net dot au

the only motion I can seem to get is that the punch holder kinda shakes about.  I can't seem drag or animate the sliding motion.  Maybe I missed something.  No matter which joint I right click and select Animate Joint, still just shakes it all about.  Maybe the wrong joint types. ??

Sounds like you are animating a rigid joint.

You need to animate the Slider Joint, with Animate Model, last option in the list.

Found it (Animate Model).  For a long time I only saw Animate Joint.  Would be more helpful if the Animate Model would be in the top level.

I also no longer need the projection geometry (purple lines).. Can it be safely removed?   It clutters up the view.

The model is also not in the correct orientation in the view cube.

Turn the lightbulb off, for any clutter you want to hide, but don't delete anything, if the warning pops up.

View Cube has reset options, right click, and then dig through the menus.
