Design/build a car. Fusion360 or Inventor?

Hi, I was thinking of sketching/building a car in Fusion360 or Inventor and wondering which program is best suited?

A motorboat/yacht and a bus also need to be drawn/built.

Hello-

It really depends on your needs.

A couple things I would consider...

If you're going to work at a high level, 30,000ft / Design Scope, and require collaboration, team environment and rapid feedback from stake holders. Fusion would be a great choice.

If you're looking to work at a low-level, granular / high-detail, and take it it all the way through production and want robust, production ready models and the ability to put your model into a drawing. Inventor all day.

This is just my opinion, as of right now, there is no right or wrong answer to your question.

Thanks, and best to you and your efforts.

Ok, sounds like Inventor is a better fit. I was thinking of starting with the 30 day trial version.

Anyone else have an idea?

I think you need to explain in more detail what you mean with "design/build" a car.

What kind of car?

A real car or a model car?

Just the exterior or also the interior?

No current production car is designed either in Fusion 360 or Inventor!

I'm talking about a real car (not an animated one).
Both interior and exterior.
I've never done this before so copying a finished model to start with would be great!
Also bus and boat 🙄

@BenevolentAppearance

Can you Attach projects of increasing complexity from simple to complex that you have completed in the past leading up to this complex car project that you have chosen?

No, I have used other CAD programs:
Autodesk architecture and Archicad (Graphisoft)
Never Inventor/Fusion 360
I wonder which program you recommend for my purpose?

What @TheCADWhisperer is trying to assess is whether or not you have the necessary cad modeling and engnieering skills to design an entire car.

I have over 3 decades of professional cad and engineering experience and I am still wondering what you mean with “entire car”. Do you have an image of a vehicle similar to what you want to design?

Cars are designed by teams of highly experienced designers - not by zero experience individuals.

The project you have chosen is too ambitious.

I recommend that you start with something simple like a steering wheel or wheel for tire (forget the tire for now).

Or maybe something like a Car Jack...

cybertruck-tesla-elon-musk-steel-electric-vehicle-car-truck-_dezeen_2364_sqOf course, I will inspect a car that is going to drive in traffic. And this by professional teams.

I was thinking of starting to make the car with the 30 day trial version.
Therefore, I get to see how much I have time for, maybe just the outside or also the inside. Maybe a bus and a boat too if I have time.

Regarding details such as wheels, it would be nice to use finished wheels and maybe the steering wheel, etc.

As a beginner I thought that you can make an angular car and then round the corners etc.

As I wrote in my second to first post, I'll probably choose Inventor.
I intend to start a new thread about how I need to develop my model.

Before that, I need to look for tutorial videos and other ways to learn the program. Tips on that are welcome!

A typical car has about 30,000 "parts". Fusion 360 would be a great place to start....It can't do the complete job...but it will get you started. Start with a wheel cover or something similar. If you get stuck...ask here for help and good luck!
