Derive multiple copies from one file but with unique paramters?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if its possible to have a duplicated but linked design, but with only user parameters edited?

I'm designing cabinets for my kitchen. The design content is the same for multiple cabinets but i want to adjust certain features in a "master" file, save it and then update all the cabinets in my assembly file. Is this possible? Or maybe someone can recommend a better workflow than this that achieves the same result?

I'm currently defining the aesthetic and going through many small changes such as changing colours and simple features such as radius size, width etc on decorative features. At the moment I'm having to change this for every file each time. I found a way to save a bit of time by having a master file with an easy set of parameters to change and then re saving and re importing them into my kitchen assembly. Not ideal though obvs.

Thanks in advance,

Nic

You are close to the idea expressed in this Blog Article and Video but not quite the same.  See if it helps you improve your process.

The functionality you are looking for is called Configurations in (m)any other CAD software. The Fusion 360 team has been working on this and we might see first public releases by the end of this year.
