Defeature or lock assembly for step file export to prevent disassembly

Hi,

We have recently moved from 2d to parametric modelling of our products using fusion 360. Occasionally we are asked for models so that clients can check set ups, access, dimensional constraints, etc. I'm reluctant to send a .step file that can be exploded into individual detailed components but I can't find a way to lock components together to prevent disassembly, or alternatively defeature the exported step file so that fine detail is removed/obscured.

Can anybody offer any tips/solutions?

Thanks ,

Jeff

I would go the route of using the combine function in the modify panel. It combines whichever bodies you select into a single one. Then you should be able to export the step file so that it cannot be exploded. Hope this helps.

Thanks, thats the way we're heading, although I think it means breaking all the links in the project, so it's perhaps not the neatest of solutions. Better than no solution though!

Hi Jeff,

Perhaps it would be helpful if you renamed the spot in the timeline when you do this. This way you could always suppress this feature in the timeline if you wanted to see it correctly in your designs. If you need to make modifications you could just back the timeline up before this step and make your changes.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'll pass that on.
