Dark Mode

It’s unbelievable that in 2024, Fusion 360 still doesn’t have a Dark Mode—something that should have existed over 10 years ago. There are regular updates, but still no Dark Mode. It’s starting to feel like the developers are deliberately avoiding it to push users toward other software, which is a real shame. Because if there’s one thing that’s most talked about on the internet regarding Fusion, it’s the lack of a Dark Mode. It just doesn’t make any sense.

I just don't understand it. I can't believe how Autodesk still hasn't managed to implement something so basic, yet so very valuable to many customers to increase their productivity. I just can't comprehend how this wasn't implemented from the start at all. People spend a lot of hours behind their monitors and it's just such basic knowledge that less visual strain leads to less exhaustion. Or maybe I'm totally wrong and they can in fact just not implement dark-mode because they don't have developers/designers who can do that? I just don't get it.

A real dark mode would be great
The temporary solution from above, does not work.

the crazy thing is AutoCAD, another prolific Autodesk program has had a dark mode that is the default setting for over 10 years.

One of the autodesk officials seemed to confirm the existence/possibility of a dark mode

Just maybe, they'll bring it to normal Fusion

I would love to see a dark mode. Now that I have to pay for the basic fully featured Fusion software, the least the Fusion development group can do is work up anything resembling a dark mode.

Yeh it would be great if it did...

For the other pre-people...

If only the Lock sigh would go to a green eyeball...

But I think I'm hoping too much

Yes, Dark Mode would be great. I'm autistic and have a light photo-sensitivity so everything I use is dark. It relives a lot of eye strain and keeps my migraines to a minimum. I really enjoy using Fusion360, but can not work for long in it because of  its overall color scheme. When changing environments, it doesn't change other colors such as sketch lines, etc to function better with that new Environment (at least not substantially) so contrast is lacking, which increases eye strain and prevents me from turning my monitors brightness down. Simply making the Tabs, file management, and even log section dark would cut down so much strain.

Please check the "What's New" for the latest release, which dropped yesterday. The section "coming soon" is at the very end and might interest you.

Fusion does now support Dark Mode via Theme Switching.

Currently a Preview feature, so first enable the Preferences->Preview Features->UI Themes.

Then change the Theme via Preferences->General->Theme to "Dark Blue".

To have the canvas color follow the theme, at the bottom of the canvas change Display Settings->Environment-> to "Theme(default)"

Took me a while too get around to this, should have taken the time sooner. Thank you so much!!!  I have my eyes back now. lol

Just for others reading this, if you end up with white boxes in the settings menu, don't forget to go into the Display Settings (Bottom bar, icon looks like monitor on Windows) and set Environment to Default. The white boxes will then match everything else, and in my case made everything a little darker which is great.

I know this is in the instructions, but if you miss that last step you get the white boxes. So don't forget.

-Thanks AutoDesk team for coming through with this, it's a real Help. -Cheers
