Seems there is a glitch with adding custom materials to the material manager for stress/pressure simulation.

Trying to add Sapphire Crystal but no luck. Any help please. Thank you.

Hi SwissPL,

Thanks for your message.

From the video, It seems you was trying to find ‘Crystal’ assets in Physical asset browser, but failed. This is the misunderstanding of two concepts: Container and Assets.

Protein describes physical material to be a container, it can contain different aspects like appearance assets, physical assets… .(see the bottom of the snapshot below)

On the left side of Material browser, the favorites library list materialsCrystal’, ‘Default New Material’ and ‘Titanium 6AI-4V’.

Crystal and Default New Material only includes Identity, but no assets.

Titanium 6AI-4V includes Identity and ‘Titanium Alloy 6AI-4V’ physical assets.

As a result, On the right side, when user browses physical assets by adding Physical, it will only filter out physical assets for him,  you can see:

In Favorites of Asset Browser(different from Favorites of Material Browser), the physical asset ‘Titanium Alloy 6AI-4V’ for material ‘Titanium 6AI-4V’ is list, and can be searched out. this Favorites would not list material name(container name like Crystal).

I was trying to add a material which doesn't presently exist to the available set. I need to test sapphire crystal glass in the watch component.

So you are trying to create a material in sapphire crystal glass?

you can add new appearance asset into the customize material steps like:

Select an appearance asset from Fusion 360 Appearance library > Change properties like color, Index of Refraction, change material preview render as RRT, then you can create "a sapphire crystal glass material" by yourself, hope it helps.
