Hi, I'm looking to 3d print a rubber ring to go around a control knob , I'd really like the outer side of the ring to have a tactile surface. Something as simple in design as adding grooves like the milling on a coin would work.
I tried cheating, using spurgear, but if I go to that many fine teeth, it just spits out a huge list of errors .(unsurprisingly)
I was hoping adding a bumpmap to the appearance modifier, would add a texture to the surface, (Tried the polka dot textured plastic) but that is gone when exporting as an STL file.
I feel like this is likely a simple thing to do, but I'm at a total loss, what am I missing?
