Creating a plane at an arkward angle

Hey, i am trying to make an arm that is at a weird angle.

i want to delete the points used to create the plane without getting warnings.

Arm.jpg

I angles some rough cylinders into the shape i wanted then created a plane using points in the ends of the cylinder. I was planning on deleting the cylinders then creating a spline on the new plane and then use a pipe to create the arm.

When i delete the cylinders i get warnings in my history bar. How do i keep the plane as it is and still get rid of the cylinders?

I know it has something to do direct  modelling but i cant seem to get it to work.

Thanks for the help.

Turn the timeline off. Then you'll be in direct modeling mode.

Won't turning off the visibility of the cylinders accomplish the same thing without breaking any references?  Why do you need to delete them?

You could also measure the angle of the plane relative to the origin and recreate the plane using an offset plane and an a plane at angle.

I Would rather not have the cylinders clutering up the work space. The arm isnt the only thing i am creating for that component so id prefer to get rid of the cylinders and keep my history. Ill try measuring the angles, but i thoaght there would be an easier way than that.

Thanks for the reply.

Instead of deleting the cylinders, did you try to remove them (right-click on the body in the browser, and choose "Remove")? Removing creates a feature in the timeline, so if you roll back to before that point, the cylinders will be there, but at any point after the remove, they are gone. Just like you want. And no warnings in the timeline either, because the feature that referenced the cylinders (in your case the plane) can still "see" the cylinders at that point in time.
