Creating a joint. Components will not stay in snap position.

Good day folks.

I am trying to assemble two components together - a W-iron and an Axle box.

Having created the snap points, the two elements move together:

However, as soon as I click on 'OK', they move apart but the joint icon is shown in the correct place.

What am I missing?

I attach the design file.

Thanks in anticipation.

Keith

PS. Now, I find that I can not export the file "The attachment's 109 w-iron + box v2.f3z content type (application/fusion) does not match its file extension and has been removed."  HELP.

Try zipping the *.f3z or provide a link instead (if you are on commercial license rather than personal license).

Is the component grounded to parent?  If so, it will revert back to its original position.

Sorry, I don't know.  How would I verify if this is the case?

1. Break Link

2. Please share the file for reply.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach to post

Günter.

The only file type that I can find on the export list is the .f3z type.

and

I will try to send that again as an attachment.

There may be linked components (chain symbol) in the design, but these can be removed (temporarily) for uploading as described above.

A picture of the expanded browser showing all of the components will show whether or not ground to parent is involved.

I selected the moveable item (Axlebox and lid).  I received the
'Existing assembly relationships' dialogue.

The problem is that I do not understand the implications of this message
or what is the appropriate action. What is your advice?

K..

PS.  I decided to take the bull by the horns, select 'Ground to Parent'
and see what happens.  It turned out to be reversible so that was a
relief. More so as in fact the axle box moved to the correct position
and remained in place.    Now printing a trial piece.

Thanks for the help.

The trial print came out satisfactory, so Günther's suggestion solved the issue.  Many thanks.

K.

PS. There used to be a 'Accept solution' button, but that seems to have disappeared.
