Create a thin air filter

Hello everyone.

I have modelled and air ventilation system and would like to include a thin layer representing an air filter. It has to be see-through, so I am wondering what a good approach would look like (keeping in mind that the filter will need to be 2000 x 300 mm, so I guess extruding a pattern with millions of holes is not a good idea, as well as pattern a feature this often will blow the program in my experience)?
It would be fine if it is a texture or similar applied to an appearance, no need for it to look perfect, I just need to represent the effect when looking through it and I want to show the part in an explosion drawing.

If anything is unclear, please let me know.
Looking forward to modelling,
Daniel

If this is for visual appearance, then a texture, with a similar setup to the perforated leather textures in Fusion is the right way to go.

The most important section is the Cutout section,  which will provide the see-through areas for the holes.

The Aluminum Mesh with small hoes texture might already be good enough for your purposes.

Thank you - completely forgot about the perforated textures. They absolutely do the job, look great and I can even create different coloured versions.
Fantastically simple solution in this case.
