Crash after a CRASH

I had Fusion crash experimenting with Combine using an inserted part, see this post. I had some unsaved work at the time, when I restarted Fusion I was able to recover all the edited designs with no loss of work. I should have saved at this point but got distracted by something else, when I came back the my PC Fusion had crashed again. I hadn't done any work just had the recovered designs open, this time when I started Fusion non of the designs had a backup. I'm not sure if the autorecovery backup save might be the problem. I didn't get a chance to send a crash report all I got was this.

Same here- chronic crashing, regardless of which design is loaded.   Could you post your system specs?

@HughesTooling,

I have also experienced some odd crashes not related to each other. The files that I was working on, there were just fine, no crazy assembly or shapes.

One crash is consistent, is when I'm trying to edit a base feature. I get the same error window like yours. Something happen to Fusion in the last update, it causes all kinds of odd problems and crashes, which are not easy to follow.

The first crash I reported was quite specific, caused by the combine feature the second crash seems like a one off. Apart from these 2 crashes I've not had any others. I have had Fusion not responding a few times which seems different but it has recovered.

@HughesTooling@Beyondforce@jeff_strater

I have three students on new macBookPros with the touchbar and after the update - uninstall and reinstall Fusion they experience a lot of crashes.

Other students as well. Something must trigger this after the update!

Seems to be a lot of people with macs having problems. I've only had this crash related to a combine cut using a inserted (still linked) part as the tool.

Hey everyone!

I just want to say keep submitting the error reports, they are so helpful for triaging these types of issues.

@Beyondforce - I see 3 different reports from you and all are different. One issue may be related to updating the profiles in sketching. Development is actively investigating for a reproducible  data steps. If you have any designs that crash consistently when updating a sketch, could you share them with us? (Internal Reference FUS-27912.

If you could share a screencast of the workflow regarding the BaseFeature edit, that would be really helpful too! Thank you in advance!

@mavigogun Your reports look like it may be something to do with sketching/constraints (different from beyondforce's reports). Have you noticed any consistent steps that cause a crash during sketching or while applying constraints? I may be mistaken and the module may also have something to do with Joints. Do you designs have any warning or errors around joints?

@cekuhnen Could you PM me the e-mail address of the student's? I could take a look at the reports and see if I find any themes that may help us out here.

Thank you in advance everyone!

Hi @innovatenate

I hope this screencast will help. I have also noticed that one of my most important assembly file is gone. I have checked online, but it's not there. To be honest, I'm not sure if it has something to do specifically with the last update. Last time I opened this file, was maybe 2 months ago. Yesterday, I wanted to get some information out of this assembly, but I couldn't find it.

This file was THE first assembly I created in Fusion. I'm sad now 😞

This is my Laptop specs:

Operating System - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU - Intel Core i7 @ 2.40GHz Turbo 3.20GHz
RAM - 8,00GB

Graphics - 3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M

@innovatenate,

In regards to some of the other crashes, now I remember. It happened when I wanted to test this new Branch functionality. Almost every time I clicked on the "View Project History" Fusion crashed. So I decided not to test this functionality anymore!

Nathan, while not *exclusively* related to joints, joint functions have *consistently* produced crashes; the crash inception may come as early as typing "j" on the keyboard- that is to say, there isn't an apparent connection to a system-taxing animation.   I have endeavored to parse designs of error colour tags in the design history; tests of very basic designs with minimal, clear history have produced crashes as soon as a joint was introduced.

Thanks for the inquiry.

@mavigogun Thanks for the update. I'm very curious if you could share a copy of the simple design that produces the crash with joints with me.

All of your crashes are associated to an existing report in on our internal systems, but it would be really helpful to get a test case to share with the development team. Please feel free to share a public link with me via private message if you prefer.

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks,
