Copy component from one design to another...

I designed few furnitures each as a individual design in different project, I a very early version I was able to copy and paste components between two deprecate designs but it's look like I can not do it know. I even try to export designs and upload them within one new project but even then I can not copy elements between two designs.
Some of those drawing took me over 30 hours each and I have 8 of them that I need put together. So drafting all over again is not an option
Is there a way of copy component from one design into another?
If so how can I do this?

Well, I just tried that and when I click Paste New, the Move/Copy dialog opens, but my subassembly does not seem to have been pasted.  I checked that I'm at the end of the history.  I've also tried copying and pasting the component before moving it to a subassembly.  Another frustrating hour with Fusion360 watching videos and trying various "solutions", none of which work, for something that should be really easy and intuitively obvious.

Hi,

Please show the process in a screencast.

This way we can better analyze the behaviour.

hey, thanks, gunther.   I was playing around and discovered that I
somehow had a component on top of a body. who knew? Once I separated
them I was able to copy over the component.

Same for me. I found this thread, even though it is a bit older. Under "learn" I do not know where to find "manage"  (I can choose between "Learning and Certification", "Training", "Autodesk University",... ). I did not understand rule #1 or how I might have violated it.

I the design from where I want to copy, I created a new component. It contains two bodies which are not related to anything else in the design (at least, not that I know). It is an internal component.

In the design where I want to put this component into, I select the root and try "Paste New". I also tried to crate a new component, select it and paste, same effect.

Please help!

Thanks, Martin

Same here. I found this thread, although it is a bit older.

Under "Learn", I don't know where to look for "Manage". Here I can choose between Learning and Certification, Training, Autodesk University, and so on.

Frankly, I did not understand the rule #1 or how I might have violated it.

In the design from where I want to copy, I generated a new component under the root of the design. I selected this component, selected copy, opened the design where I want the component to be in, and got the result as described above.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Martin

Same problem with me.

I created a few components and tried to copy/paste them to a new design.

With one of them it works, with the others it doesn't.

I created all of them in the same way and I do not find any differences between them

Pleas help.

Hi! Paste should just work. There could be a bug. Please share the file here. Forum experts can help take a further look.

Many thanks!

I read through this whole thread but still had issues Copying a component from one design to another. Finally I figured out what the issue was. It would seem that if you have a component that is inserted into the design which has a link to the item itself then it won't copy across designs using the Paste New command unless you first break the link. This had me bamboozled for a bit as some components were copying and then I could use Paste New in the other design and yet other components weren't working. Then I realised that the link was the common denominator. Anyway I hope this helps others like me who were looking for an answer 🙂

Regards

Peter
