copy body in sheet metal

Hi,

I tried to copy a body in sheet metal.  It allows me to copy the body under the "copy/move" command, but then I lose the ability to unbend it. I'd like a way to keep the unbend functionality after copying a body.  If anyone knows a way, let me know!

Thanks!

As I read this thread, I think that everyone is looking for a way to copy a sheet metal body.  If you create your sheet metal body, use the Rectangular Array tool to pattern it, any number of times, the results are independent sheet metal bodies that can be edited independently using the sheet metal tools.  You can create a flat pattern for any one of the bodies independently.  You must remove the flat pattern to do another body however.  You can also use Unfold and Refold on any of the independent sheet metal bodies.  Take a look at the Screencast.

The sheet metal body is only 1 of 22 components in the file I have, the other components were not sheet metal. I attempted to go the route you're suggesting, however in the new doc, anytime I tried to remove the other 22 components to retain the sheet metal body, fusion crashes w/ no error notif. Ever since the license update, I find fusion crashes often, and I've clean-installed 3 times now.

Thanks for the screencast – Can you still unfold them into a sheet metal flat pattern using this process? The project I'm working requires sheet metal I'll need to cnc cut and bend meant to hold together a wood or plastic paneling.

What do i did to solve this issue:

I create a copy of a entire assembly . In the copied assembly i delete all the rest of components, so i can save the body on the parent component, with this solution i can preserve the sheet metal tools for futher modifications

" You must remove the flat pattern to do another body however."

This helps a lot.

I was slightly losing my mind trying to create a new component from a sheet metal body to be able to create flat patterns. I can instead do them one at a time (eureka!).

If you use "Mirror" tool and mirror your sheet metal, you conserve folds, bends and tools.
