Copy a DXF

This could be something simple but i cannot figure it out... I created a draft beer handle and imported a DFX file (skull) that i created from an image file. I properly sized the skull and aligned it to the handle. Now i want to make 16 of these, each with a different beer label, but i CANNOT copy the DXF image. I can copy everything else, the handle (body) and the text but not the skull. When i try to copy the skull, the copy button is grey'd out. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm trying to make 16 in a single pass. Thanks.

One way to do this is with a component.

  1. create a component
  2. create the handle outline in a sketch owned by the component
  3. extrude the handle
  4. insert the DXF, this will create a second sketch in the component
  5. activate the root component
  6. copy/paste new the handle component (to create an independent copy)
  7. activate each handle component
  8. create a sketch
  9. add the new text label
  10. emboss into the handle
  11. activate the next handle
  12. repeat for each handle

if you want to share your design (and the skull DXF), I can illustrate with a screencast, in case that list of steps is not obvious.

Thanks Jeff, that worked. I was able to create everything under the component... Handle Sketch, Extrude, add DXF, Text... Then copy and paste the component... change the text on each component. Appreciate the assistance!
