Convert solid to sheetmetal

I have this solid body designed for a client initially to print.  Now the client wants to have it made in a sheet metal shop.  Is there any way to flatten this shape so that a sheet metal shop could cut it and bend it?

Hi,

Short answer - yes.

As long as your design meets the Sheet Metal Rules criteria for bending, and eyeballing this design it should, you

can simply change to Sheet Metal and do a Convert to Sheetmetal

You will need a seam however to make a Flat Pattern. Simply add the seam and do the Conversion.

Should take about 2 minutes to fire up fusion, make the change and do the conversion.

Cheers

@jhackney1972 has several good tutorials on sheet metal. below is one of many.   Not all sheet metal looking  bodies are capable of being flattened, or unfolded, it depends on how they were constructed.
