Construction points don't stay with components

I am trying to align 4 components with one another on their symmetry axes.  When I place an axis or point on the center circle of one of the components it appears as expected. However if I move one of the components, the point / axes is left behind. What am I missing here?

That is because that construction point was created at the top level, and not in one of the components.

You might have forgotten to activate the component before adding the construction point.
